Sundarbans National Park The Sundarbans National Park is famous as the largest mangrove forests and home to some of the atypical and dying out species like reptiles, birds, aquatic mammals and tigers. Situated at Piyali in West Bengal, the park is frequently visited and adored for its Ridley Sea Turtles and Royal Bengal Tigers. The particular name of Sundarbans stuck with it for having the vast Sundari trees around the region. The duration of April and May observes extremely charming flora in the park owing to the golden-haired flowers of Khalsi, the crimson flowers of the Kankara and the glowing red leaves of the Genwa. Visitors spot 400 tigers and other animal species like the Rhesus Monkey, the Chital Deer, Hermit Crabs, Red Fiddler Crabs, Rock Python, King Cobra and many more. The tiger reserve in Sunderban attracts the maximum crowd for its tigers. These mangrove forests also form a home to the wildlife species like the Gangetic dolphin, small Indian civet, common grey mongoose, spotted deer, wild pig, Indian flying fox, rhesus monkey and pangolin. The birds like billed pelican, large egret, night heron, open-billed stork, cotton teal, herring gull, Caspian tern, grey heron etc are a normal sight at the Sundarbans National Park. Mangrove scrubs, littoral forest, salt water mixed forest, brackish water mixed forest and swamp forest further add to the beauty of the park and make it dense. The Sundarbans National Park manages a fine mix of wildlife and vegetation and attracts visitors in good number. Visitors are suggested to visit the park after the monsoons, and the best times can be anything after the monsoons till mid-March.
