Jim Corbett National Park

Target Tours India Pvt Ltd.Jim Corbett National Park is in the peaks of the Himalayas, and close to Ramnagar (Nainital). The park hosts a wide-array of flora and fauna and adored for its wild inhabitants of Tigers, Leopards and Elephants. It was established in 1936 as the Hailey National Park, and got the title (Jim Corbett National Park) in 1957. The park was named so to honour the renowned hunter, nature lover, author and photographer, Sir Jim Corbett who also chipped in immensely to help set up its boundaries.

The Jim Corbett National Park became the first Indian national park to be included under Project Tiger for its vast variety of vegetation. Project Tiger was implemented in 1973 and made it the first such tiger reserve in the country. With around 110 tree species, 50 mammal species, 580 bird species and 25 reptile species, the Corbett National Park is a foremost Indian wildlife park.

Tigers and its prey spend easy life here, and four kinds of Deer, Wild Boar and a few local species make up the system. Leopards dominate the hilly areas of the park, while few nocturnal cats like Leopard Cat, Jungle Cat and Fishing Cat also give it a distinct touch.

The lower regions of the park put up Sloth Bear, while the higher hosts Black Bear. The southern areas of the park have Dole or Wild Dog and Jackal. Elephants are the foremost attractions of the Park, and fish-eating Gharial, Crocodile and the 'Mugger' Crocodile are other fascinating animals. Ghoral or Goat Antelopes and Langur and Rhesus Monkeys are scattered enviably throughout the park.
