Durga Puja

Target Tours India Pvt Ltd.Durga Puja is a grand festival of West Bengal or Bengal, and celebrated with joys for nine days in other parts of India as well. Goddess Durga is worshipped in her diverse forms like as goddess of valour, wisdom and wealth during the nine days celebration of Durga Puja. Besides West Bengal, Manipur, Orissa, Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Maharashtra and Jharkhand also show equal joy and intensity while celebrating Durga Puja.

The festival has forever been more than an occasion to relish, as it’s become an integral social-cultural event for the Hindus across India. The exuberance of life, the lively culture, the set rituals and traditions are all come to fore during the nine days celebration of Durga Puja. Gigantic puja pandals are shaped to place the idols of Goddess Durga along with Goddess Saraswati and Lord Ganesha to let the masses pray and enjoy the occasion. Dancing, singing, preparing special festive dishes and wearing new and attractive clothes are observed on that day.

Being a vast nation, India manages different names for Durga Puja Festival, as celebrated so in various parts of India. The festival is celebrated with the name of Akalbodhan (untimely awakening of Durga), Durgotsab (festival of Durga), Maayer Pujo (worship of the Mother). The term Navratri Puja has been given to the events in places like Gujarat, Maharashtra and Delhi. The same festival observes intense celebrations as Kullu Dussehra in Kullu Valley, Himachal Pradesh.

The Hindus celebrate the event twice a year, once in April-May, while other in September-October. The worshipping of nine different forms of Goddess tends to the main trait of the event, thus called Durga Navratri (nine nights). Stunning and elegant idols of the Mother Goddess are set-up almost everywhere in India and a massive gathering of devotees is observed to Durga temples for nine days. On the last day, say the tenth day, the idols are treated amazingly well before finally immersing in a river or pond after passing through a wonderful procession.
