The Choukhandi' Stupa is a place that marks the meting of Buddha with his five disciples, and it was raised by Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1555 A.D. The Digambara Jain Temple, built in 1824, marks the birth place of Shreyanshnath, the 11th Jain Tirthankara. Some Buddhist Temples at Sarnath attract a vast number of travellers from across the globe. The Mulagandhakuti Vihara is a modern temple and having the original relics of the Buddha.
