Hassan
 Hassan is a soothing town around 200 kms from Bangalore in the south India state of Karnataka. This hushed and serene town forms a well-situated base to take travellers to the famous sites like Shravanabelagola, Belur and Halebid. Hassan features among the oldest town of Hoysala Empire, and is supposed to have laid out at some stage of 11th to 13th century AD. With the proximity from Belur, Halebid and Sravanbelagola, it has developed into a hot tourist spot where tourists from all over stay to further explore the popular spots like Belur and Halebid for their antique temples.
Hassan was also influenced by Jainism, and even served as a renowned centre of Jain literature. The city relishes the Master Control Facility of India's Space Research Organization (ISRO) and also lures travellers for its stone quarries with granite stones. With the pleasant climate, the town fascinates a good number of tourists throughout the year from every corner of the world.

Halebid is just half an hour drive from the town and superbly exhibits the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka with its temples.
Belur is yet another spot, a picturesque rural community on the banks of the river Yagachi which lures vast travellers for its impressive temples. The Chennakeshava Temple (build in a whopping 103 years) is the prime attraction here and also depicts the grandeur of Hoysala architecture.
Shravanabelagola is about 1 hour drive from Hassan and famous for being the most revered Jain pilgrimage centres. It hosts the world's tallest monolithic statue, 17 m high monolith of Lord Bahubali, and attracts religious people to perform the Mahamastakabhisheka -an extravagant ritual held once in 12 years.
