Varanasi
 Varanasi or Banaras is an ancient city on the bank of river Ganga and also features among the oldest Indian cities. Numerous events and incidents have placed it among the history which also depict the city as the centre of education, religion, art and culture. Varanasi has many shades to offer to its visitors, and the religious fervour among the Hindu community makes it one of the prime places for this specific religion. The glittering red and golden water of the Ganges, the ancient temples, the Ashrams, the pavilions all truly define Varanasi.
The city is always filled with the chanting of Mantras, and the air smells with the fragrance of incense all around. Visitors from all parts of the world come here to take a refreshing dip in the Ganges which is considered as the biggest virtue for a Hindu soul.

Varanasi is well-known globally for its Ghats, about hundred in numbers. The ghats with early-morning bathers have endowed Varanasi with a charm that is almost unmatchable in entire India.

Alamgir Mosque, Durga Temple, Bharat Mata Temple and Tulsi Manas Temple are some other sites that give the city a distinct touch. Some other sites that pull a good number of religious as well as tourist crowd are Emperor Aurangzeb's Mosque, Vishwanath Temple, and Benaras Hindu University etc.
Sarnath – located just 10 Kms away is a prime site of Buddhist importance.
