Kochi
Kochi, previously known as Cochin is encircled by the Western Ghats on the east and the Arabian Sea on the west. It is a significant and good-looking port city of Kerala and situated in the district of Ernakulam, around 200 km north of the state capital Thiruvananthapuram. The city with an extended metropolitan comprises a world-class port to have linking to scores of vital cities over the world.
The strategic location of Kochi has for all time made it an important commercial and industrial hub of Kerala. At some stage in the 14th century, the city rose to prominence for being an important spice-trading centre. Besides, Santa Cruz Basilica is a Roman Catholic cathedral and attracts a good number of travellers. The other attractions are Jewish Synagogue, Dutch Palace and the Chinese Fishing Nets.
